Voicescape: Profile building through awards success

Challenge

Voicescape is a technology company making a real statement in the social housing sector for its innovative approach to customer engagement.

While Voicescape’s technology tells the majority of the story, demonstrating strong third-party endorsement of the company’s suite of solutions (particularly those new to market), is critical to the company’s sales and marketing efforts.

Petal & Co. identified that highly regarded sector awards could play a vital role in this process – helping the business to build its reputation while giving the products the credibility needed in a competitive marketplace.

Idea and implementation

Social housing has a surprising number of industry awards. When you combine relevant technology, business and regional categories, the scope is significant. However, standing out from the crowd is essential when competing against a stellar list of nominees.

The first step in our approach was identifying which standout Voicescape products and themes we wanted to promote, before finding the right awards that would help us make a real impact; our goal was to enter those awards that are most valued by the exact customers Voicescape was aiming to retain and attract.

We conducted a comprehensive audit of the most important and relevant awards in the sector, reviewing previous winners and conducting interviews with industry decision-makers, including Voicescape customers and key journalists, to understand which they respect the most.

We then created an annual awards calendar which clearly defined relevant categories, areas of the business we could highlight, information required and timescale for each award.

With a clear awards plan in place, we began the process of creating entries. Crafting award entries requires a nuanced approach that turns technical information and reams of customer testimonials into an entry that not only meets the criteria, but also has that WOW factor.

This involved uncovering compelling customer stories and key success factors, working collaboratively with Voicescape customers and key personnel through a series of interviews. We then carefully mapped these insights to the criteria set out for each award submission.

Impact

Over the last 18 months, Voicescape has entered 15 award programmes, with each entry being drafted by Petal.

To date, Voicescape has achieved:

  • A 100% shortlist rate
  • Of those awards entered (with four yet to be announced), Voicescape has won four awards and had one commendation
  • Voicescape has used the success of the awards in all comms, marketing and sales
